U subotu, 22. ožujka, studenti Studija dizajna imali su priliku uključiti se u  "smellwalk", drugu zagrebačku sesiju olfaktornog istraživanja koje provodi profesor Simon Niedenthal sa Sveučilišta u Malmöu. Smellwalk nam prof. Niedenthal predstavlja kao relevantnu istraživačku metodu u području senzorne ekologije. Mirisi, koje rijetko aktivno percipiramo, moćni su nositelji ekoloških informacija pohranjenih u kemijskim česticama koje ih generiraju.

U ovoj šetnji uz Savu korišten je i uređaj eNose, koji pomoću osam senzora i ugrađenog GPS-a bilježi karakteristične mirise rute.

Enter the world of scent. A smellwalk is a directed promenade using scent as a guide. It’s a new way to explore familiar territory and map the city through its olfactory landscape. Start with Smell Catching and sniff the notes that the wind blows across your nose. Move on to Smell Hunting and seek sources of smell in places both expected and surprising. Then, finish reorienting your stance toward the smelly with Smell Research – directed exploration to answer a question you have about smell. To this process, we add another’s senses. It’s not a living nose, but an electronic one, capturing the chemical volatiles floating on the air and reacting in kind. Register interesting scents with a click of the button on the e-nose.
